A gallery wall is the most personal way to display art — and the easiest to get wrong. The difference between curated and cluttered is almost always planning.
Choose a layout
Grid
Identical frames in even rows and columns. Calm, architectural and ideal for series — botanical prints, photography, architectural drawings.
Salon
Mixed sizes and orientations built around a central anchor piece. Relaxed and collected, perfect for family photos, travel pieces and art gathered over years.
Single line
Frames aligned along a common centre line or top edge — elegant along corridors and staircases.
Rules that make it work
- Consistent spacing: keep gaps between frames even, typically 5–8 cm.
- Anchor it: leave around 20–30 cm between the bottom of the arrangement and the sofa or console below.
- Limit finishes: one or two frame finishes and a consistent mount colour tie different artworks together.
- Centre at eye level: the middle of the arrangement should sit roughly at eye height.
Plan before you drill
Lay the frames out on the floor, or cut paper templates and tape them to the wall. Photograph it, adjust, then hang. For villas and larger walls, our team can plan the layout and install it for you.
